Linda’s quilt

The world is strange in so many ways. Many of you know that in my younger years I did some quilting. I have always enjoyed the colors and arrangement of all materials. So a couple of things interesting happened this past week. I had a new training partner in New Jersey for two days, who turns out to be a quilter. This is a photo of one of the pics in her album. Love it. And I really enjoyed working with her. Second, I have been trying to purge clutter and go through things that have been stored for years. I found a quilt I made for my daughter many years ago. I had accused her old boyfriend of stealing it, many times as she insisted she had stored it with me. I really believed I had searched everywhere. I was wrong and the good news is the quilt will be cleaned and mended and returned to its rightful owner.

I’ve seen a few of these cars on the road but was very surprised to find myself driving one from the rental lot when I arrived in Newark. It was surprisingly nice to drive, it was so brand new, like 11 miles and smelled like the plastic wrap was just removed. I kind of liked it. Always love a new adventure.

(Those of you who read this blog and don’t know this story, forget about it)

Jim lost his life to a cancer recurrence this past week. I am so glad we got to spend some quality time together. I love this photo of them, it looks like them having fun in the “good old days”.

Bobby Bowden

I have been a Seminole and a fan since the 70’s. I have seen Bobby in action and loved his talk to the Freshmen Orientation when my son started school there. He has always conducted himself like a gentleman as far as I could tell, you know, didn’t lock guys in closets or beat them over the head to have winning football teams.

When you live in Jacksonville you are deep in Gator territory. The Seminole Nation here is definitely in the minority, so imagine my surprise to come over the bridge on Riverside Avenue to be faced with this banner on the Water Street Garage thanking Coach Bowden. I took a pic with my phone out my windshield so it is not that great but I am proud of my city for taking a moment to thank a man who has given alot to all of us who enjoy college football. And this in the middle of Gator Country. Thanks Jax.

Betty’s Almost New Kitchen

Had to post a pic of the construction going on at my sister’s house. The new cabinets are beautiful and she has made practically all of the lower cupboards if they are not corner lazy susans, into drawers. I am so jealous, well yes I did my kitchen 3 years ago but I do not have all those drawers. Of course I also don’t have the kittens on the counter either. I was there the day they put this granite in and it was a well done job.

Don’t know why the scary kitten eyes, I tried to edit them out and they only became scarier. Can’t wait to see the final product.

Well even though Dad was sick when he got to Jacksonville, it did not keep us from going out and about. We didn’t get to have lunch with Tony at the BG but we had a nice lunch outside and Erin, who was working in the bar that day took our photo. She did a great job, it was a fun day and the food was good. I was so glad that Dad got to spend some time with his great grandchildren.

New Year’s Izzi

Despite not feeling so hot this New Year’s Day, and having nothing to do with New Year’s Eve, I had the kids for the day so Tony and Tammy could do the Gator Bowl and say goodbye to Bobby Bowden. Well Izzi’s new haircut, just too cute and it doesn’t hurt that those teeth are missing. We had so much fun, baking cookies, and going to the movies. Nico too.
